~~~~~~ Welcome to my Website! ~~~~~~
My name is Harrowhark; thank you for visiting my webpage.
This is just my little personal page - a place to represent myself on the web away from web3 and social media. This is also a project, and thus expect things to change often. This isn't even close to being a final layout. Please be patient as I relearn html and build this space into something I feel represents me authentically.
I'm Harrowhark, my pronouns are she/they, and I'm currently based in the AWST (UTC+8) timezone. I'm new to web revival but find the movement and its ideas and community quite compelling. Thus, I hope to embody the values of free and personal internet usage, unresitricted by the constraints of the hegemonic gatekeepers of almost all there is left to do on the world wide web. I believe indie web - ranging from both the many useful and free web revival resources online to silly personal pages like this one - is vital to the survival of many communities which would otherwise be restricted on tradtional platforms.
I am both a queer person and a goth, among other labels which one might feel I fit within. I have been amazed by the stength of the presence of these subcultures on Neocities and in the wider web revival space, and am humbled and inspired by the sheer authenticity, creativity, and celebration of identity, liberation, and community on display. Tools such as Neocities have given these subcultures and those in them a place to exist online without fear of censorship or commodification. I hope I too can find a home here.
Please go read Semi-Charmed Kinda Life by Strangedelight on Ao3.
It's the inspiration for the name of this site and a foundational text for understanding me as a person. And no, I'm not going to feign shame over finding myself in a piece of fan-fiction. Fuck off.
More to come soon, including blogging, zines, and other exciting things...
